Why I Joined the CIC
I joined the CIC because I believe it has a long history and continues to try to do what is best for town. What this means to me is it’s not about a political affiliation or what side of town one lives on, it’s about all of us, trying to do the right thing, the best thing for town.
We are one town and it happens to be tiny in comparison to our neighbors. We are also something special – a sea side community with a good balance of residents and businesses located smack in the middle between Miami and Palm Beach.
Before I joined the CIC I looked at their mission statement along with all the others and then checked out what they did. The CIC has a strong history of doing what it set out to do. We have height restrictions, zoning laws and term limits that can only be changed by a vote of the people. This was accomplished because of work the CIC has done
Because I’m a member of the CIC it doesn’t mean I’m against any other group. Nor does it mean I agree with everything the CIC says or does. It means I agree with the overall goals of the CIC and welcome any idea that is good for the town no matter where it comes from.
I was involved in the last election helping out the candidates and I saw with my own 2 eyes some of the nastiness that went on and proud to say it was not from the CIC side. I found it unbelievable these same people, who during a prior town commissioner meeting, were stating we must have a change because the commissioner was unruly. What they said there were about and how they acted was not the same.
I read and pay attention to information that I come across regarding town. I miss The By the Sea Times and we have ended up with only one type of information via a couple of sources. I find this weakens us when other ideas/opinions are not being heard. That is why I hope this website becomes that other source and is read by many. If we are not informed with other opinions/news, we become less.
